Air Pollution In Delhi: Everyone is troubled by air pollution in the national capital Delhi. In view of the deteriorating air quality of the National Capital Region, the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) on Saturday banned construction activities in the NCR and adjoining areas. Also the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) sub-committee has decided to implement Phase III of GRAP across NCR to prevent further deterioration in air quality.

Central Vista and other project of national need will be done

The Air Quality Management Commission in NCR and adjoining areas has issued an official press release saying that under this release all construction works will be banned except for special projects like Central Vista and other projects of national need. . The sub-committee held an emergency meeting to take action under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of CQM in NCR and adjoining areas to address the deteriorating air quality of the National Capital Region.

Phase III of GRAP to be implemented in entire NCR with immediate effect

While taking a comprehensive review of the overall air quality parameters during the meeting, the Commission stated that due to slow wind speed due to adverse meteorological conditions and sudden increase in the incidence of farm fires, GRAP will be applicable with immediate effect across NCR.

CAQM Official Statement

The official statement from CAQM reads, “As per dynamic models and weather/meteorological forecast, the overall air quality in Delhi 29..414 From 30.10.2022 very likely to remain in the very poor to severe category.The air quality is likely to deteriorate and remain severe. ..445 From 01.11.2022 and for subsequent 6 days, the air quality is likely to fluctuate between severe to very poor category.”

winds expected to remain calm in the coming days

CAQM further said that the winds are expected to remain calm in the coming days and the wind direction is likely to change frequently. Thus, there is a high chance of pollutants getting trapped in this area and not spreading effectively. Further, the CAQM appealed to the citizens of NCR to cooperate in the implementation of GRAP and follow the steps mentioned in the Citizen’s Charter under GARP.
