CJI Farewell: Chief Justice Lalit Said, I Started Advocacy In SC In Front Of Justice Chandrachud's Father

New Delhi : on the occasion of the retirement of the current Chief Justice of India (CJI) Uday Umesh Lalit in the Supreme Court on Monday. But a farewell ceremony was organized. CJI Justice Uday Umesh Lalit is retiring from his post on Tuesday. During his farewell speech, he recalled the journey of his 37 years in the Supreme Court. It was during this emotional moment that he told people about the old days when he first started his practice in the Supreme Court. During his address, CJI Lalit said that for the first time in the Supreme Court he met Justice DY Chandrachud’s father and India’s 16 had started advocacy in front of th Chief Justice Yashwant Vishnu Chandrachud.

Chief Justice of India Uday Umesh Lalit said that he acted with enthusiasm during his tenure as both lawyer and judge. Chief Justice Lalit is retiring on November 8. He along with his elected successor Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Bela M Trivedi sat and addressed the ceremonial bench of the Supreme Court for the last time on Monday afternoon.

Justice Uday Umesh Lalit said that I have approached this court 37 Years have passed. My journey in this court started from court no. I was practicing law in Bombay and had come here to present a case before CJI YV Chandrachud. He said that my journey started from this court and is ending in this court today. Referring to the constitution of several Constitution Benches, he said that “doing something for the Bar has been a very memorable and satisfying experience”.

Attorney General R Venkataramani said that he is extremely grateful to the Chief Justice. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that Chief Justice Lalit has had a successful tenure as a lawyer and judge.
