Goods Train Derails In Odisha, 2 Dead, Many Injured, CM Announces Rs 2 Lakh For Victims

A painful accident happened in the early morning at Korai station in Jajpur, Odisha. Suddenly the goods train derailed at Korai station and entered inside the platform. The coaches of the goods train reached the waiting hall and ticket counter built on the platform. During this, 2 passengers got hit by it and died on the spot, while many others were badly injured. Rescue work has started. It is feared that the number of casualties may increase. The routes of many trains have been changed. According to the Railways, at the time of the accident, many passengers were standing on the platform to catch the local train going to Bhubaneswar. Meanwhile, the goods train went uncontrolled and collided with the platform. The injured were taken to the local hospital. Railway’s medical team has reached the spot. Rescue work has started. Still many people are expected to be trapped inside. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep sorrow over this incident of goods train derailment. In the incident, an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each has been announced for the families of the victims. In a statement issued by the CM’s office, it has been said that the administration has been instructed to speed up the rescue operation and provide adequate treatment to the injured.
