The Court on Monday refused to entertain a plea seeking immediate intervention to direct the Center to carry out repair work and provide immediate relief to the people of Joshimath. The Supreme Court has allowed the petitioner to approach the Uttarakhand High Court with a petition to declare it a national calamity.

The Supreme Court today refused to hear a petition seeking court’s intervention to declare the landslide crisis in Joshimath, Uttarakhand as a national calamity. On the Joshimath crisis, the apex court has asked Swami Avimukteshwaranand to approach the Uttarakhand High Court for relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.
What the Chief Justice said Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice P.S. Narasimha and J. B. Pardiwala’s bench asked the petitioner Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati to approach the Uttarakhand High Court with his petition. Let us tell you that Joshimath, the gateway to famous pilgrimage centers like Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib and international skiing center Auli, is facing a major crisis due to landslides which has raised concerns.
Talking about the petitioner, he has argued that due to large-scale industrialization landslides have occurred and immediate financial assistance and compensation should be done to the affected people. The petition states that there is no need for any development at the cost of human life and their ecosystem and even if some such things happen, it is the duty of the state and central government to stop it immediately. with language input
